Abstract

|
Nowadays, the soft tissue defect accompanied with the peripheral nerve defect is increased according to the industrial development. In the management of peripheral nerve defect, the conventional methods of it have some problems including flexion of adjacent joints and morbidities of donor site of the nerve graft.
So, authors investigated the effects -of tissue expander on the peripheral nerve using the rabbits for elimination of the above problems.
The objectives of our study were to estimate the expansion rate of the nerve, electro-physiological and pathological change of the expanded nerve.
After the exposure of the sciatic nerve of the rabbit, the epineural tagging were done with 20mn in distance by 6-0 black silk for observation of the expansion rate of the nerve and 70cc rectangular tissue expander was implanted under the nerve.
In acute expansion group, normal saline was injected for 35cc every 3 days after one week
